What is NLP
The History of NLP
Neuro Linguistic Programming was originally established by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in 1975.
Their initial intention was to discover how certain individuals had become excellent communicators, and to create models of this behaviour, which would then enable them to teach others how to be as equally as effective. They initially studied Milton Erikson, Fritz Perls and Virginia Satir, although many others have contributed to its growth over the years.

As a field it continues to evolve, finding new and extraordinary possibilities. You can continue to learn more about yourself and the environment in which you live everyday by having access to these skills.
What Can NLP Do
From the models of NLP a whole host of techniques have been created, which can enable you to change your thought processes, behaviours and beliefs. By removing any limitations you hold about yourself which you have created during your life’s journey, NLP allows you to be the person you really want to be in life. NLP will also open up more choices, you can learn to control how you behave, be aware of your emotional and physical states, and have the power to determine how you and others communicate and interact by using verbal and non-verbal language.
NLP explores how your mind works, and demonstrates how you shape your personal experiences. Modelling excellence for the best results in just one way NLP supports positive change.
- Neuro refers to the neurological system, it is the building blocks of our experience and processed through our 5 senses - seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling and tasting
- Linguistic refers to the way we use language, both our verbal and non-verbal communication to express our experiences and communicate with others.
- Programming refers to strategies, the order and sequence of how we communicate using our inner processes to produce results.
