NLP Therapy – IBS

Is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Controlling Your Life

IBS is a disorder of the gut in which the sufferer experiences abdominal pain, bloating or discomfort and a change in bowel habit, without an obvious cause. IBS is called a syndrome because it involves different signs and symptoms which are all interrelated.

IBS is a painful and often distressing condition which can seriously impact the sufferer’s quality of life. It is thought that women are twice as likely as men to suffer from IBS and it is also more common in emotional and stressed people. In fact, at some time or other, around one third of the population may be affected.

IBS generally comprises of both dietary and psychological factors so the most effective solution should comprise both approaches. Initially, you should first of all visit your doctor for a proper diagnosis. Ask yourself if the discomfort seems to follow any pattern and, if your doctor agrees, experiment with cutting certain foods like citrus, dairy, yeast, wheat, or other grains out of your diet

Why use NLP to help IBS

NLP, Time Line Therapy™ and Hypnosis can help address stresses, anxiety and negative emotions, which often make a significant contribution to symptoms associated with IBS. As a result many IBS sufferers are able to reduce or eradicate their symptoms using a talk therapy approach. There have been clinical studies which show that 80% of IBS sufferers respond to Hypnotherapy alone.

What is NLP Therapy

Our approach works on the basis that everyone is different.  Everyone has been on their own unique journey through life and though we may often have problems that present in similar ways the causes can be different.   So the approach is unique and personal.  From the clients perspective the process is very simple; you need to be honest with yourself and your therapist and as far as you are able to follow instructions.  Typically a first session of two to three hours will be conducted, the purpose of which is to uncover how you do your particular problem.  This session will explore your past life and current situation and problems.  From this a plan as to what therapeutic interventions are required will be determined.  This is a process of understanding the present in the context of past so that unwanted patterns or behaviours can be let go or changed.  As a general guide from start to finish, you should expect your sessions to last for six to nine hours in total.
