Promoting Good Management

Think about a time that you were managed well and a time that you were managed badly in your career.   My guess is that when you were being managed well you were being coached.  Good management includes coaching; the process of helping your staff to find within themselves the best way of achieving results.

Many people in their working lives don’t get good management training, and yet many people get promoted into management positions because they are a good salesman, a good lawyer, a good accountant and are expected to be naturally capable of managing others to do the job that they used to do as well as deliver results in their new role.

However, I do think that we as individuals need to take responsibility for our own development both personally and professionally.  Through that process we often model other people to grow, sometimes we read books or attend seminars.  All of that can take us so far, however to take our abilities and understanding deeper sometimes we need more.

What people learn on our NLP Training courses are life skills which take ones understanding of people deeper; allowing access to more resourcefulness inside, whilst taking communication skills to a different level.   All of these things are essential for personal and professional development progression.

Our NLP Coach training helps people to apply those new NLP skills in a coaching environment which will give you a quantum step forward in your ability to manage others in the work place.  Let me give you a few tips to think about -

  • All decisions are made on incomplete information
  • Perception is projection
  • Confidence is not having all the answers, it is about being open to all the questions

Through managing others you are guiding them and also teaching them to help themselves and the best way to consolidate your own knowledge is to teach. Finally let me say this, the hardest thing about managing other people is managing other people, just ask Raymond Domenech.
